DHCP error coz of its pre requisites

This error occured  while I was trying to configure DHCP server through oscar toolkit for cluster nodes. The server exited by issuing a long error suggesting to make sure that if CONFIG_PACKET (packet socket) and Packet filtering CONFIG_FILTER was enabled.

SOLUTION:

The pre-requisites of DHCP server are

TCP/IP networking enabled
MULTICAST enabled – To check to see if MULTICAST is enabled, type “ifconfig -a”. You should see “MULTICAST” listed in your outputs for your ethernet devices.
CONFIG_PACKET=y
CONFIG_FILTER=y

*/
So i greped my .config file in /usr/src/linux-2.4.25 and found that CONFIG_PACKET=y was already there but” CONFIG_FILTER is not set” was written in .config file. So i changed CONFIG_FILTER=y and saved the file. After saving I took normal recompilation steps like
make oldconfig && make dep && make bzImage && make modules && make modules_install && make install. Rebooted the machine .
service dhcpd start and bingo it worked
